It’s summer!
We love this time of the year.
But for fashion lovers it’s also the most difficult time of the year. Fashion is not only about clothes, it represents the whole package. Fashion is a feeling that you express by wearing clothes, shoes and accessories. Don’t you love that feeling to fully dress up with jewellery if you feel like going “extreme”? Yep, that’s the feeling!
Why is summer such a difficult time for fashion? The simple answer is: when the temperature rises, the insecurities will too.
So Fashion Alien, what can I wear to the office, terrace or an afternoon shopping?
What I do is every night before I go to sleep I visualize what I want to wear tomorrow.
A dress (maxi), pants with something nice, a skirt with something nice.. But there’s so much to consider! Like what is appropriate for office and also decent enough to avoid peeking colleagues and or clients? What can be worn when taking the air conditioner into account, so you won’t be troubled with goose bumps all day? Which outfit is a ‘to do’ for the office and does also feel comfortable and fashionable?
- Can you get away with a tank top on a fantastic wide skirt? Perhaps a cardigan?
- Can it be a pencil skirt (ankle length or above the knee?) with a short sleeved shirt or with an oversized shirt with rolled up sleeves?
- A so-called Marlène Dietrich pants with a simple T-shirt (good excuse for shopping)?
- Simple jeans with a daring top or blouse? – Maybe a good outfit for shopping?
- A beautiful long, paper-thin dress for the bloody hot days? Then take an afternoon off and go to the terrace?
- Or shall I go for a boot? – no too warm.
- Open shoe then? – hmm guaranteed blisters.
- Sandals ? Then my ugly feet and hammer toes will show (note to self: pedicure needed!).
- A nice pair of closed shoes with a high heel? Also not an option because of the heat that make my feet swell.
- Can I go for sneakers…. Again? (not for every day?) Slippers? Pfff those are typical beach shoes.
So little choice!
If it was only winter!
